Isn’t that better than that ugly thing she used to wear? You know, that outfit I put on her when I was stupid in the head an didn’t know no better, and then was stuck with for the ENTIRE REST OF THE CHAPTER.

Any way this is mostly just solidifying colors an design so its easier to keep consistent and so I’m not stuck drawing something I don’t like for another 30 pages.
I had tons o’ fun doing this thing. So exited for the chapter to pick up again.

Hooolly crap, I kind of absolutely love those designs, especially the one on the right with the orange. They both look fantastic, but that one in particular appeals to me and it seems really Evelynish to me, as well. It speaks of her quiet, reserved nature but it also hints at something more, like a mystery that hasn’t been cracked yet. It’s an awesome fit, man, I really dig it. What I’m trying to say is I absolutely love these designs, love Evelyn, think you’ve done a perfectly brilliant job with it, and cannot WAIT until the comic starts back up again. :] Can you say ‘favorite webcomic’? ‘Cause I sure can!

oh i just looked at it again and kind of realized the reason I liked the one on the left better is the belt.
Right on.
I like the jacket on the left but not so much the one on the right (too much red) If you use a red color use a something with a little more blue in it, maybe. And I think she should have a little more green. Personaly I think she is a little more of a dull person but she will probaly gain some confidence in the next chapter so maybe somthing that brings out some femaninity. but don’t make her like a supermodel or anything.

I’m the glad you like the left one. It’s going to be the first to appear in the comic. The right one happens to be the one that I like the best.
The color scheme for the one on the right left is actually dull green and black with orange trim. It shows up pretty well on my screen but I’m gonna go ahead and test it on a couple more screens just to be sure. Also, I made the colors here a bit more saturated and dark because my lighting technique has a tendency to wash out colors, so the there should be much less contrast in the finished product. Spent about an hour and a half cycling through color combinations and this is the one that I liked best.
She does slowly slowly start to come out of her shell as the comic goes on, however in chapter shy and recessive in chapter two. Shes still most comfortable in things she can hide behind. For this reason her clothing tends to be a couple size to big, in dull colors and usually with some sort of a hood on it. When I designed the second one I made it about half a step less reserved than usual, so I went with sort of a peacoat type of thing. In general, peacoats have a more reserved look to them and are somewhat vertically oriented, which goes well with her reserved personality and narrow frame. Aside from being cut a wee bit long, the jacket on the right is also better fitting than most things she wears which allows her to look more confident while still keeping the wrapped up reserved look that comes with peacoats.
The brighter color in the patches of the arms and parts of the trim serves two purposes. One is showing Evelyn’s attempt to be a little bit more expressive, and the other is to bring out of the background a bit more. Large parts of the latter half of the chapter will take place in a dark, shadowy place. Here, it will be very important for Evelyn’s character to be in particular to separate from the darkness in contrast to Eliot’s design which tends to fell more at home in the dark.
Anyway, aside from a few minor tweaks these are pretty much gonna be what’s in the comic and she’ll be spending quite a bit of time wearing the one on the right, so I hope it doesn’t bother you too much. =]
