Chapter one is finished.
Hooray!
we did it.
Up next is chapter two!
But first…
I have to take a smallish break.
3 weeks.
I know. It’s a bummer. But I need this time to do things like solidify designs, and scripts, make the site look less ugly maybe, and crank out some turnarounds so things will FINALLY START TO LOOK CONSISTENT. But when it does start up again it’s gonna be so cool.
8-8-11
That is the date when Root Rot starts Chapter 2
In the mean time I’ll be sure to update regularly with concept art to prove to you guys that I’m still working, So there will still be stuff to look at here and what not,
Also if you guys have any fan arts now would be a great time to send them in.
One more thing.
I’ve decided to start inking Root Rot digitally. I love penciling and inking traditionally but it takes me anywhere from 12-20 hours to pencil and ink a page. I’ve had the chance to experiment recently, and inking digitally takes me a fifth of the time. So, in the interest of speed I’ll be making the switch. Maybe someday after I get better I’ll switch back. The good news is faster comic. The switch should pretty much cut my time in half.
OK I think that’s everything.
You readers are the best readers. No foolin’
Thanks for all the support through chapter 1.
Onwards and upwards

Look, a real Evelyn almost-smile! The dynamic you’ve got going between all your characters is really great, and I can’t wait to see how it progresses from here on in. Chapter two’s going to be awesome.

Ha.
Nice.
Has it been 3 weeks yet?
Not quite.
Monday.
Monday i the triumphant return.
But I want it NAO …
Well I do have a little thing planned for tomorrow.
Hey man, take as much time as you need. Also love the pages this was a nice thing to come back to.
Right on man. Glad you liked em’
I just reread the whole comic and noticed that in ch. 1 pg. 17 on the warning diamond above Evelyn in a :( great artistic quality and story line so far.
Oh yeah… Good eye.
I sometimes like to sneak frowny faces into my drawings.
Thanks for rereading. Can’t imagine anyone taking the time to go through this thing twice. =]
Congratulations on finishing the first chapter! Things are really great, and i can’t believe all your earlier work was traditional! Your crazy good!
I’ve been juggling the idea of doing fanart, but i felt i couldn’t do any justice to the characters. But i’ll try it out i guess.
Eagerly waiting for the next chapter to begin. Again, congrats for this awesome project. It’ll definately go far!
I certainly wasn’t doing it all traditionally. Just pencils and inks. The color was always done in photoshop
.
Thanks a lot though!
What little Ive done for the next chapter is looking great so I’m sure you’ll like it.
I can imagine. I’m looking forward to it!
It seems to me that both of them have trouble expressing themselves.
Indeed.
Neither is really good with people.
I’ve been reading your comic for a while and really liked it, continue with that it is very good
hey thanks!
Nice of him to apologize. Sensible too.
And congratulations on finishing the chapter! :-)
Thanks, Gillsing. I cant wait for the next one.
Love the comic! Keep up the good work.
Will do.
*thumbs up*
So far I love this comic. I’ll keep checking the site even during the break.
My view on traditional/digital inking with webcomics is either the one that the artist prefers, or the one that will be noticeably quicker (Being a reader, I like having more updates :P). Its great when those two coincide.
I kind of wish I could draw so I could send you in same fanart. Maybe I should learn. I’ve been meaning to learn to draw for a long time.
I agree. I definitely favor speed over tradition in this case. Gotsta get some more story told.
Thanks for the support, Seros!
Dude, Your comic rocks! Keep ‘em comin’ your style is awesome, and so is your story!!!!
Thanks for the kind words, Jazicle.
You rock.
Double update, sweet!
I really like your style and the way you designed the two main charas.
The shading you used on Evelyn’s face is really stunning. Makes her look kinda 3D, wow.
I’ll somehow make it through the break, but I’m hoping the suprenatural awesomeness to continue on August 8th!!
=D
Well thanks, Deyran.
I do my best to make things look as good as I can. I may be taking an entirely new approach to shading in the future though.
There should be neat things coming trough the blog section to tide you over while I’m gone.
Thanks again!
Yo man, I love the traditional inking, but I agree. It’s far more important that you improve your speed before you use it hardcore. Good luck in the future!
Word, Gurw. Word.
Thanks man.
